# How to Use Auto Streak
Auto Streak tracks things you want to stop doing (smoking, sugar, doomscrolling). Once a streak is started, it counts up on its own — you only come back when something breaks.
Add a habit
- Type the habit in Habit to stop (e.g.
No smoking). - Choose how time is displayed in Count in — minutes, hours, days, or weeks.
- Press Add habit (or hit Enter).
- The habit appears instantly with an Idle badge.
Progress is saved to your browser the moment you press the button, so the habit survives closing the app.
Start tracking
- On any idle habit card press Start Tracking.
- A dialog opens with a Start time, pre-filled with now.
- Change it if your streak actually began earlier. The time cannot be in the future, and cannot reach back past the end of your previous streak.
- Press Start. The badge switches to Tracking and the big counter starts ticking every second.
When a streak breaks
Press Streak broken on a running habit and pick a time, then choose one of three outcomes:
- Stop, wait for Start — ends the streak; the habit stays idle until you press Start Tracking again.
- Restart immediately — ends the streak and begins a brand new one from that exact moment.
- Log slip, keep counting — records a mistake but keeps the current streak alive. Slip counts appear on the card.
After ending a streak you get a toast telling you whether you beat your record. Use Undo in the toast (available for 10 seconds) to reverse it.
History, edit, delete
- History shows the running streak, every past attempt with start/end times, slip timestamps, and a 🏆 marker on your record streak.
- Edit renames a habit or changes its display unit. Existing timings are untouched.
- Delete removes the habit and all its history, after a confirmation dialog. Undo is available in the toast.
Notes
- Press Escape or click outside a dialog to close it.
- All data is stored locally on your device in this app's storage; nothing is uploaded.
