Privacy Policy

Shelf is designed from the ground up to be private. The short version: your data stays on your machine. We can't see it, we don't want it, and we have no way to access it.

1. What data Shelf collects

Almost nothing. Shelf is a desktop application that runs entirely on your computer.

• Your apps and their data — all apps you create in Shelf, and all data those apps save, are stored in a SQLite database on your local machine. This data never leaves your computer.
• Your AI API key — your DeepSeek (or other provider) API key is stored in your browser's local storage on your machine. It is sent directly from your machine to the AI provider's servers. It is never sent to Shelf's servers.
• Your preferences — theme settings, UI mode, and other preferences are stored locally on your machine.

We do not collect, transmit, or store any of the above on Shelf's servers.

2. What data Shelf does not collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
• We do not collect usage analytics or telemetry.
• We do not collect the content of your prompts or generated apps.
• We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics on this website unless explicitly stated.

3. AI generation

When you generate an app using Shelf, your prompt is sent to your chosen AI provider (e.g. DeepSeek) via their API. This communication is directly between your machine and the AI provider — Shelf does not proxy or log these requests.

Your use of the AI provider's API is subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service.

4. This website

This landing page (shelf.app or getshelf.app) may use standard web server logs (IP address, browser, page visited, timestamp) for operational purposes. These logs are not shared with third parties and are retained for a short period for security and performance monitoring only.

5. Children's privacy

Shelf is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

6. Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and post notice on this page. Continued use of Shelf after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
